Structural calculation balkon
A balkon involves more than just the building itself: the structure must be demonstrably safe. A structural calculation proves that, for the municipality and for your contractor.
Why do I need a structural calculation?
As soon as structural work is involved, think of load-bearing walls, foundations, beams or a balkon, the municipality wants to see in black and white that the structure is strong and stable. A structural engineer calculates the loads (self-weight, wind, snow and use) and proves that the structure complies with the Dutch building regulations (Bbl).
Do I need a permit for a balkon?
That depends on the location, the dimensions and the zoning plan. Even when you may build permit-free, a structural calculation remains wise: as the owner you are responsible for structural safety. For a renovation requiring a permit, the calculation is almost always a mandatory part of the application.
What does the calculation include?
You receive a complete report with the assumptions, load combinations and verifications of all structural elements, plus (if ordered) a structural drawing with reinforcement or steel details that the contractor can use directly. Everything in accordance with the Eurocodes and ready to submit via the Omgevingsloket.

You receive floor plans, elevations and sections as a PDF to share and as an editable DWG file for your contractor. If you order structural work alongside, the calculation and/or structural drawing is included as well.
The first revision round is included free of charge, even if the municipality has comments. Any additional changes after that are discussed with you in advance.
